Bill Belichick coy on Rob Gronkowski selection

Belichick coy on Gronkowski selection

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has revealed that he has yet to make the decision over whether tight end Rob Gronkowski will play in his side's season opener.

Gronkowski admitted earlier in the week that he was ready to play against the Miami Dolphins, just months removed from an ACL tear that prematurely ended his 2013 campaign.

"Well, I'm glad that Rob's optimistic about his situation," Belichick told reporters. "We'll go through the week of practice and take a look at everything, everybody and see where everybody is at and do what we feel like is best for the team.

"With all due respect to Rob, I'm glad he feels the way he does but in the end, we'll have to make the decision that we feel is best for the team and we'll do that as we go through the week."

Gronkowski recorded 39 receptions for 592 yards and four touchdowns in the 2013 season in seven games for the Patriots.
