New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork is "unlikely" to play again this season after tearing his Achilles tendon, confirms head coach Bill Belichick.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has confirmed that it is "unlikely" that defensive tackle Vince Wilfork will play again this season.

Reports emerged that the All-Pro was out for the entire campaign after tearing his Achilles tendon in the Patriots' win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night.

Belichick has confirmed those reports, stating that the injury is indeed very "serious".

"It's probably unlikely that he'll be able to play again this year," Belichick told radio station WEEI.

The Patriots are 4-0 in their season after week four.
