The Patriots were handed the chance to take the lead when Ryan Fitzpatrick fumbled the ball under pressure from Chandler Jones, but the home side's offense were forced to settle for a field goal from Stephen Gostkowski.

New York came back with a field goal to level the scores on their next drive as Fitzpatrick moved them downfield, only to be held out of the endzone on the goalline. However, Nick Folk sent his kick through the posts from 20 yards.

The Jets took the lead when Fitzpatrick manoeuvred his side to the goalline once again, although a penalty moved them back four yards. However, on the next play the quarterback drilled the ball to Jeremy Kerley for a five-yard touchdown.

New England responded with a touchdown drive as Tom Brady guided his side to the redzone. The Jets repelled them on third down, but the home side opted to go for in on fourth down. Brady then leaped over his line to record the score.

The Patriots regained the lead when they moved into the redzone, although a sack from Calvin Pace restricted the hosts to a field goal through the boot of Gostkowski from 46 yards.
