Joe Philbin to stay with Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has confirmed that head coach Joe Philbin will return to the team for the 2015 season.

The Dolphins missed out on the post-season for the second straight year under Philbin due to their 8-7 record, but Ross has admitted that he is pleased with the progress his team are making, despite reports that suggested he was ready to fire the 53-year-old.

Ross is quoted as saying by the club's official website: "I believe in what we're building, Coach Philbin is coming back next year."

The Dolphins recorded their eighth win of the season with a 37-35 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
