Jones suspended for four games

Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones has been suspended for the first four games of the NFL season due to violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Jones has revealed that a supplement was the reason for his suspension and has expressed his deep regret to the club as he will now miss their matches against the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders.

"I deeply regret not investigating the supplement carefully before I took it, and I will never again take a supplement without having it checked," Jones told the club's official website.

"I am very sorry for the effect of my mistake on my teammates and coaches. I apologise to them, the Dolphins organisation, and fans. During the time away from the team, I will participate in an intense training program so that I can help my team as soon as I return."

The 26-year-old recorded 107 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one interception last season.
