Hunt: 'Reid, Smith can lead Chiefs to Super Bowl'

Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is confident that the pairing of head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith can lead the club to the Super Bowl.

The duo joined the Chiefs ahead of the 2013 season and reversed the fortunes of the team, taking them from the worst record in the NFL to the playoffs in their first campaign, where they were eliminated in the wildcard round.

The AFC West side narrowly missed out on the post-season last year, but Hunt is optimistic that the pair are capable of guiding the club to the Vince Lombardi trophy.

"We've got a coach and a quarterback who can take us to the Super Bowl," he told reporters.

"And if we keep building the team the right way — and I will go back and mention again, I feel a big part of that is drafting right, [because] you have to do that every year — we've got a real shot of getting to the game we all want to get in."

Reid has recorded a 20-13 record, including the post-season, in his first two years with the Chiefs.
