Marcedes Lewis accepts pay-cut at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars cut tight end Marcades Lewis's wages after signing Julius Thomas.

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis has revealed that he has re-structured the final year of his contract in order to remain with the team.

The Jaguars signed Julius Thomas in March and the team needed to modify Lewis's deal so that they can afford him.

Lewis told The Tri-City Herald: "I understand it from a business standpoint. I'm a businessman myself. I'm just ready to work hard, do what I got to do and help this team do some good things.

"I'm paid to do a job. I've had a chance to come here and do some good things over the years and I'm looking forward to doing the same thing."

The 31-year-old was signed by the Jaguars in the NFL Draft in 2006.
