Washington Redskins thrash Jacksonville Jaguars despite injuries

Kirk Cousins comes in for injured Robert Griffin III to lead the Washington Redskins to an emphatic 41-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.

The Washington Redskins scored five touchdowns as they cruised to a 41-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars to secure their first win of the season in the NFL.

The Redskins were dealt a double blow early on when quarterback Robert Griffin III was ruled out with a suspected dislocated ankle, while wide receiver DeSean Jackson was also injured a couple of plays later.

Griffin's absence brought backup Kirk Cousins into the game, with his first pass finding full-back Darrel Young for a 20-yard touchdown.

Running back Alfred Morris had a heavy workload in the second quarter, scoring two touchdowns to leave the Redskins in control.

However, Chad Henne got the Jaguars back in contention just before the break, picking out tight end Marcedes Lewis to get Jacksonville off the mark.

Having added a single field goal in the third quarter, the Redskins continued to increase their lead at the start of the final period, with Cousins connecting with Niles Paul for the team's fourth touchdown of the day.

Running back Silas Redd completed the scoring, rushing for 13 yards on fourth down inside the two-minute warning.

The Redskins defense tormented Henne throughout the game, sacking the quarterback 10 times, four of which were claimed by linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.
