Gabbert injures thumb during Jaguars loss

Blaine Gabbert has said that he will undergo further tests today to evaluate the thumb injury that forced him out of the Jacksonville Jaguars' pre-season game against the New York Jets.

The quarterback bent back his thumb that forced him off the field during the second quarter of the 37-13 loss.

The 23-year-old told reporters: "It was unfortunate, but it's part of the game. We'll see [Sunday] what the deal is and move on. I just dinged it up a little it and we'll know more [Sunday].

"I didn't really push it. I was coming out after that series anyway. It was more precautionary, ice it and alleviate some of the swelling."

Gabbert is competing with Chad Henne to be the team's starting quarterback for the 2013 season.
