Robert Mathis urges Indianapolis Colts to repeat 2006 Super Bowl win

Mathis urges Colts to repeat 2006 Super Bowl win

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathis has called on his teammates to replicate their feat of the 2006 season by winning the Super Bowl.

The 34-year-old missed the 2014 season as he tore his Achilles in September and was forced to watch from the sidelines as his side were hammered in the AFC championship game by the New England Patriots.

However, Mathis has backed his team to get over the hump this year by reaching the Super Bowl and clinching the Vince Lombardi trophy for the first time in nine years.

"Let [Super Bowl season] 2006 happen again," Mathis told his teammates in their final minicamp session, according to the club's official website.

Mathis has recorded 487 tackles, 111 sacks and one interception in his 12 years in the NFL.
