Irsay: 'Pagano future does not rest on Super Bowl win'

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has insisted that the future of head coach Chuck Pagano does not rest on the club winning the Super Bowl in the 2015 season.

Pagano will enter the 2015 campaign in the final year of his contract with the AFC South side, despite guiding the club to the playoffs in each of his three seasons in charge.

Reports have suggested that the 54-year-old could be replaced at the end of the season if the Colts failed to reach the Super Bowl, but Irsay is adamant that those remarks are not true.

"These things are ongoing a lot of times behind the scenes," Irsay told The Indianapolis Star. "We're working on contracts, whether it's management, coaches, players.

"We had discussions and it doesn't mean that they won't continue. It's not a Super Bowl-or-bust season or anything like that."

The Colts reached the AFC championship game for the first time since the 2009 campaign last season, but were defeated by the New England Patriots.
