Raji confident of new Packers deal

BJ Raji has said that he is confident the Green Bay Packers will offer him a new contract.

The nose tackle is heading into the final year of his current deal with the NFC North champions, having been drafted in 2009.

The 26-year-old told the Green Bay Press-Gazette: "I'm not really going to talk contracts. Obviously, the Packers are a great organisation and I'm sure they'll do right by me. I'll leave it at that.

"One of the things [position coach Mike Trgovac] emphasised is I have to do a lot better job of shedding blocks, particularly in this league of guys who latch onto you.

"Obviously, as the season goes down for whatever reason, he thought I wasn't getting off blocks like I have in the past and that's one of the things I've emphasised this off-season is shedding blocks and making more plays."

Raji, who missed two games with an ankle injury in 2012, recorded 26 tackles last season.
