Detroit Lions pick up option on Riley Reiff contract

The Detroit Lions use the option to extend offensive lineman Riley Reiff's contract until the end of the 2016 season.

The Detroit Lions have exercised the option on the contract of Riley Reiff to extend his deal until the end of the 2016 campaign.

The NFC North side selected the offensive lineman in the first round of the 2012 Draft, and the 26-year-old has become a regular for the club after moving to the left tackle position.

As a result, the Lions have moved to pick up the option to keep him under contract until the end of the 2016 season for a fee of $8m (£5.26m).

Reiff has played in 47 out of a possible 48 matches for the Lions in his three seasons at the club.
