Schwartz: 'Suh is not violent in practice'

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has denied that Ndamukong Suh's behaviour in practice has been out of control.

Reports have claimed that Suh slammed a teammate's head into the turf and kicked out at others after the defensive tackle was fined $100,000 (£63,600) for a low hit on Minnesota Vikings centre John Sullivan.

"I can say unequivocally he has never slammed anybody's head to the ground or stomped on anybody," Schwartz said in a press conference.

"That's just inflammatory stuff, it gets headlines and it gets reaction. But I would bet that you guys would have reported that long before a guy that's never been to one of our practices reports it."

Detroit face the Washington Redskins in week three of the NFL season.
