Jim Caldwell: 'Matthew Stafford is hungry to improve'

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell says that quarterback Matthew Stafford is "hungry to improve" in 2014.

Jim Caldwell has said that Matthew Stafford is "hungry to improve" ahead of the 2014 NFL season.

The Detroit Lions quarterback, who is heading into his sixth year in the NFL, saw his completion percentage drop in 2013, while also throwing more interceptions than in 2012.

The NFC North side's new offensive coordinator told reporters: "He's hungry to improve. I've noticed that about him. He's eager. He's a willing worker, he's smart and he has tools, a lot of people want to talk about so many other things that really aren't that important, whether or not he's elite, or this or that, that doesn't matter. We want a championship quarterback, and I think we have the makings of that."

Stafford finished last season with 4,650 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes.
