Half-Time Report: Detroit Lions shut out Green Bay Packers to take control at Ford Field

Lions shut out Packers to take control

The Detroit Lions have shut out the Green Bay Packers in the first half of their NFC North clash to take a 17-0 lead into the break at Ford Field.

The Lions went ahead in the contest on their first possession when Matt Stafford moved his team into field-goal range and Matt Prater fired a 51-yarder through the posts.

Jim Caldwell's men extended their advantage when Ameer Abdullah ran through the line to put his side into the redzone, which then allowed Stafford to throw to a wide-open Eric Ebron for a one-yard score.

Green Bay's attempt to respond ended in disaster as Aaron Rodgers was intercepted by Glover Quin, and on the next play Stafford launched the ball to the endzone for Calvin Johnson, who hauled the ball in for the touchdown with a toe-tapping catch on the sideline.

Mason Crosby had the chance to put the Packers on the board with a field goal after Rodgers was sacked by Devin Taylor, but his 41-yard kick cannoned off the post, leaving his side scoreless in the first half.
