Wes Welker probable for New England Patriots clash

Denver Broncos head coach Jack Del Rio announces that Wes Welker is cleared to play against the New England Patriots after sustaining a concussion last week.

Denver Broncos interim head coach Jack Del Rio has confirmed that wide receiver Wes Welker has passed his concussion tests and is probable to face the New England Patriots.

Welker sustained a concussion during his side's win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. He went to ground after making a reception over the middle of the field but was then clattered by a number of defenders.

He was forced to leave the field and played just a handful of snaps in the remainder of the game. The 32-year-old also missed his side's practice session on Wednesday.

However, Welker came through two training sessions on Thursday and Friday and passed the protocol tests required by the NFL and is now likely to play against his old club.

The receiver was a member of the Patriots for six seasons and made 674 receptions during his spell at the team, winning two AFC Championships.
