John Fox: 'Kayvon Webster could return in week 17'

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox reveals that cornerback Kayvon Webster could return from a thumb injury as early as next week.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox has revealed that cornerback Kayvon Webster could return from surgery on his thumb for his side's week 17 clash.

The 22-year-old sustained a thumb injury in the Broncos' defeat to the San Diego Chargers and went under the knife last week, but due to the simplicity of the procedure, the recovery time could allow Webster to return next week.

Fox told the Denver Post: "Everything's good. Like I mentioned early on, when the injury occurred, it's very similar to Von Miller [dealt with in 2011]. He missed this week because he is recovering from an actual surgery.

"You don't want to risk any kind of infection. Players' health and safety [come] first. I think next week is more of an opportunity in a cast that he could be able to play."

The Broncos face the Houston Texans in their week 16 clash.
