Denver Broncos head coach John Fox hopeful of emulating San Antonio Spurs

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox is determined to follow in the footsteps of the San Antonio Spurs by leading his side to the Super Bowl a year after defeat.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox has revealed his ambition to match the feat of the San Antonio Spurs by winning the league title a year after losing in the championship game.

The Broncos were beaten heavily by the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl XLVIII, but Fox is hopeful that his side can follow in the footsteps of the Spurs, who lost to the Miami Heat in 2013 but responded with a resounding victory to take the NBA title in 2014.

Fox told reporters: "I think there are some parallels. They had a very disappointing loss much like we did in the Super Bowl and they were able to come back and win their world championship. So it's something that we've talked to the team about.

"I have great respect for coach [Gregg] Popovich and their organisation and what they've accomplished. So I think it's kind of unique and something we'd like to emulate."

Fox's side face the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs at Sports Authority Field on Sunday.
