John Elway: 'Peyton Manning legacy doesn't hinge on Super Bowl'

Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway believes that Peyton Manning's legacy will not be decided by whether he wins or loses the Super Bowl.

Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway feels that people will only be able to evaluate Peyton Manning's legacy when he has retired from the game.

Manning can win his second Super Bowl of his career if his side beat the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, in a season where he broke the single-season touchdown record and recorded the most yards ever thrown in a single campaign.

Elway told reporters: "I don't think this game, one way or the other, affects his legacy the way that he has played.

"So he's going to be one of the all-time greats no matter what, and this will definitely help [the argument against that] if we lose it, but the bottom line, this year that he has had – legacies don't get great until you're done. That's when people start talking."

Manning has 11-11 record in the post-season.
