Jerry Jones tips Joseph Randle to become Dallas Cowboys star running back

Joseph Randle could become Dallas Cowboys' first-choice running back this season, according to owner Jerry Jones.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has predicted that Joseph Randle will become the team's leading running back this season.

The 23-year-old scored three touchdowns last season but spent the campaign as backup to DeMarco Murray.

Murray has left the team to join the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cowboys replaced him with Darren McFadden, but Jones believes that Randle could be the man who replaces Murray in the side.

Jones is quoted as saying by the NFL Media: "We have a player (Randle) that has the potential and we based that on, not on what he did at Oklahoma State or how we drafted him, but by literally being a teammate around here for the last two years.

"But he has the potential to be the kind of back that would step in there and be your No. 1 back. If he were not here, then I wouldn't feel as good as we go into the season and what might happen."

Randle joined the Cowboys in 2013.
