Allen wants to lead Cowboys "by example"

Dallas Cowboys starting secondary Will Allen has admitted that he will be looking to "lead by example" at the club he joined this summer.

The veteran said that the experience he brings to the Cowboys should combine well with the young players to create a successful team in 2013.

"Sometimes you've got to keep your mouth shut and lead by example," Allen told the Cowboys' official website.

"I've been playing a long time, so I understand how to mesh well and where I fit, but I also know when to interject and exert energy and exert leadership.

I think that's a good mix. We've got a good blend of talent, a good blend of tenure on our defense. We've got a great chance to do something very special."

Allen turned pro in 2004 and has previously played for Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
