Mike Pettine confident Josh McCown can succeed at Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine insists that Josh McCown still has the ability to be a success at the club despite his poor 2014 season.

Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine is confident that Josh McCown can still be a productive quarterback in the NFL despite his difficult 2014 season.

The 35-year-old was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year to be their starting signal-caller, after a solid campaign in 2013 when he deputised for Jay Cutler at the Chicago Bears.

However, McCown has struggled during his time with the NFC South side, as he posted a 1-10 record in his 11 starts, but Pettine is adamant that he can succeed at the Browns.

He told reporters: "He can still spin it. He can still play if we put him in the right circumstances."

McCown threw for 2,206 yards along with 11 touchdowns to 14 interceptions in the 2014 season.
