Chicago Bears' Jeremiah Ratliff banned for three matches

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff is suspended for three matches by the NFL for breaching its policy on substances of abuse.

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff has been suspended for three games by the NFL.

The 33-year-old's ban is due to his breaching the league's policy on substances of abuse, which stemmed from an incident in 2013 when he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired in Texas.

Ratliff will now miss his side's matches against the Green Bay Packers, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks at the start of the 2015 season.

The defensive tackle recorded 37 tackles and 6.5 sacks for the Bears last season.
