Half-Time Report: Chicago Bears hold advantage over Minnesota Vikings

The Chicago Bears lead the Minnesota Vikings by three at half time in their NFC North clash at Soldier Field.

The Chicago Bears lead the Minnesota Vikings at the break after a frenetic first half at Soldier Field.

The Vikings started the game in perfect fashion when first-round draft pick Cordarrelle Patterson returned the kickoff for a 105-yard touchdown, as he beat every Bears defender before running into the endzone.

Chicago responded immediately as Devin Hester returned a kick for 70 yards setting up the Bears in Vikings territory. It took just five plays for Jay Cutler's offense to find the endzone as he threw a four-yard strike to tight end Martellus Bennett to get his side level.

The Bears' offense was clicking into gear as Cutler fed receiver Alshon Jeffrey on an end-around for 38 yards and the next play they found the endzone as the quarterback found Brandon Marshall on a go-route for a 34-yard strike.

Just when the Bears thought that they were about to add to their points tally, Jared Allen sacked Cutler and stripped him off the ball and Vikings' Bryan Robison picked it up and ran it for a touchdown to level the scores.

The Bears responded yet again as Hester ripped off a huge return from the kickoff but just as they were about to score on one-yard line, Cutler's pass was intercepted by Kevin Williams.

However, just seconds later Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder threw the ball straight to Bears cornerback Tim Jennings, and he ran it back for a touchdown to give his side the lead once again.

Just when you thought that the scoring was over, Adrian Peterson ran off a huge run setting the Vikings up in the 20 and next play Ponder threw a 20-yard strike in the endzone to tight end Kyle Rudolph to tie the game up.

The half was not over there, as the Bears regained the advantage when Robbie Gould kicked a field goal from close range to make the score 24-21 to the home side.
