Ron Rivera hopeful over Kelvin Benjamin injury

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is optimistic that Kelvin Benjamin will be okay despite banging knees with a teammate during his side's training camp practice.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is hopeful that an injury picked up by wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin is not too serious.

The rookie knocked knees with a teammate during practice in his side's training camp and was sent for a precautionary MRI scan by the club.

"It could just be one of those things where if he had iced it right away and not finished [Sunday's] practice, maybe it would have been better," Rivera told reporters.

"If it's negative we'll just keep on rolling. I'm optimistic that is what it's going to be."

The Panthers selected Benjamin 28th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.
