Ted Ginn: 'I can play wide receiver'

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn says that he can still be a wideout after three years focusing on kick and punt returns.

Ted Ginn has said that he can still play as a wide receiver, despite being used as a return specialist in recent years.

The 28-year-old joined the Carolina Panthers earlier this year, after three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

He told The AP: "I want to show the world that I can still play receiver. I got kind of bashed over the years, being labelled a specialist.

Head coach Ron Rivera added: "We know that with his speed, he can blow the lid off, and he's showing it. But it also helps on quick underneath routes because with his speed, he gets the ball, sticks his leg in the ground, makes a cut and goes vertical. A 5-yard pass can turn into a 25-yard gain before you know it."

Ginn scored just one touchdown on offense while with the 49ers.
