Baltimore Ravens linebacker Elvis Dumervil has targeted reaching 23 sacks in the 2015 season to guide his team to the Super Bowl.
The 31-year-old notched 17 sacks in the 2014 campaign as his side reached the playoffs, but they were knocked out in the divisional round by the New England Patriots.
Dumervil is now determined to break the NFL sack record in the hope that it will be enough to secure a berth for the Ravens in the Super Bowl.
"If I can hit that number, that'll mean we'll be in the Super Bowl for sure," Dumervil told reporters.
"You try to win games, you try to win championships. To me, there's nothing more important, because you can have the stats and accolades, but if you're sitting home, it really doesn't do any justice."
Dumervil has recorded 293 tackles, 90 sacks and one interception in his NFL career.
