Rodgers hoping for increased role

Jacquizz Rodgers has said that he wants to earn more playing time with the Atlanta Falcons in the 2013 NFL season.

The running back split the workload with Michael Turner last season, but now faces competition for carries from new signing Steven Jackson.

The 23-year-old told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: "When I get in the game, I'm going to try to make my plays and try to get my number called more often. I'll try to make every carry and every catch count."

Rodgers had 94 carries for the NFC South champions in 2012, recording 362 rushing yards and 402 receiving yards.
