Atlanta Falcons' Kroy Biermann out for the season with Achilles injury

The Atlanta Falcons have confirmed that defensive end Kroy Biermann will be out for the rest of the season after being placed on their injured reserve list.

Biermann tore his Achilles during his side's win over the St Louis Rams on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Head coach Mike Smith told reporters: "Biermann will be going on reserve injured, he has a torn Achilles tendon."

The 28-year-old has registered 16.5 sacks in his six seasons in the NFL.
