Arizona Cardinals' Bruce Arians: 'Andre Ellington's role will not change'

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is adamant that the role of running back Andre Ellington will not change despite the arrival of David Johnson in the Draft.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has insisted that the arrival of running back David Johnson at the club will not affect the role of Andre Ellington.

The NFC West side used a third-round selection on Johnson out of Northern Iowa to provide competition in the backfield, but Arians is adamant that Ellington will still be their primary back.

"I think Andre will continue his same role," Arians told reporters. "We'll keep him healthy and let him continue to develop as a player, but the nice thing David can do is he can do everything Andre does, so you don't have to change if there was an injury."

Ellington recorded 1,055 total yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns last season.
