Sponsored Video: Meet darts superfan 'Jackie The Lion'

An iconic figure in the sporting world in his own right, Jackie Goethals - aka Jackie 'The Lion' - is arguably darts' most fanatical spectator.

A regular on the amateur circuit, The Lion has travelled the globe following the sport's biggest tournaments for the last 30 years and is considered to be "part of the furniture" at Lakeside.

Jackie got into darts after falling from a fourth-floor roof straight onto concrete, leaving him unable to continue with his more physically-demanding passions such as running and karate. As a result, darts means everything to Jackie and has helped him to make a full mental recovery following his accident.

At the time Jackie began to pursue darts as an interest, Leo Laurens was Belgium's top player and was referred to as the "Lion of Belgium" by commentator Tony Green. As a virtual lookalike of Laurens, Jackie soon earned the nickname "The Lion" and it stuck!

Jackie has attended the World Championship every year for the last 20 years and is instantly recognisable due to his iconic red, yellow and black hat.

Jackie is just one of several of the globe's most passionate sports fans sought out by BetBright, who are offering #RealFansOnly a £30 free bet when you join today.
