Great British triathlete Jodie Stimpson has conceded that she has her work cut out with regards to qualification for next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Having won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, it seemed that the 26-year-old was on course to secure her place in Brazil.
However, her participation has been left in the balance due to a combination of foot and Achilles injuries, which have sidelined the Oldbury athlete for a number of months.
"This year has been the most difficult of my career because I've spent most of it on the sidelines," she told PA.
"The injury set me back so much because I was trying to qualify this year so was pushing through stuff I shouldn't have been and not just stopping and getting myself fixed. To qualify for Rio is going to be tough but my chances, if I get there, are as good as anyone's."
As well as her success at the Commonwealths, Stimpson won a team gold medal at the 2011 ITU Triathlon World Championships.
