Caroline Wozniacki dumped out by Garbine Muguruza

Fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki fails to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time after losing in straight sets to Garbine Muguruza.

Garbine Muguruza has recorded a second successive win over a top-10 seed at Wimbledon by seeing off Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round.

The Spaniard, who beat Angelique Kerber in the last 32, ran out a 6-4 6-4 winner against the fifth seed.

Wozniacki has never reached the last eight at Wimbledon, and the chances of that happening for the first time suffered a blow when she dropped the first set.

Muguruza, who was also bidding to break new territory at SW19, took one of her four break-point chances to secure the opener, with Wozniacki failing to win a point behind her second serve.

The second set went with serve until Muguruza struck in the ninth game, before she saved a break-back point to eventually seal her progress.
