Johanna Konta books spot in Wimbledon semi-finals

Britain's Johanna Konta books her spot in the Wimbledon semi-finals with a 6-7 7-6 6-4 victory over world number two Simona Halep.

Johanna Konta has become Britain's first Wimbledon women's semi-finalist since Virginia Wade in 1978 after recording a 6-7 7-6 6-4 over world number two Simona Halep on Tuesday night.

Konta, 26, had become the first British woman to reach the last eight of the famous competition since 1984, and battled back from one set down to book her spot in the semi-finals.

It was Halep that triumphed 7-2 in the first tie-break as the Romanian claimed a one-set advantage, but Konta fought back to take the second tie-break 7-5 as the quarter-final clash headed for a third set.

The decisive game of the final set came at 2-2 as Konta broke to take a 3-2 lead, and the Brit served it out in impressive fashion to set up a mouthwatering semi-final with five-time champion Venus Williams.

Konta had previously failed to advance past the second round of Wimbledon.
