Aljaz Bedene crashes out of Wimbledon at second-round stage

Aljaz Bedene loses to Viktor Troicki in four sets to crash out of Wimbledon at the second-round stage.

British number two Aljaz Bedene has seen his Wimbledon campaign come to an end after losing in four sets to Viktor Troicki this evening.

The 25-year-old recovered somewhat from falling behind to give himself a real chance, but the Serbian proved stronger in the end to book a place in the third round 6-4 3-6 6-2 6-2.

Troicki, a third-round participant at SW19 on three previous occasions, lost his serve twice in the opening set, but Bedene was unable to truly capitalise by letting slip three times himself.

Following on the back of his victory over Radek Stepanek earlier this week - his first as a British hopeful at this Grand Slam event - Bedene was able to claim a set off the number 22 seed in a straightforward manner in the second.

Two breaks allowed the man ranked 74th in the world to level things up, yet Troicki showed his quality in a pivotal third set to edge ahead and pave the way for victory.

Shortly after the Serbian had squandered one set point, Bedene failed to take advantage when letting a break point pass him by, and it was then a case of Troicki getting himself over the line.

Rafael Nadal could await in the next round, should the Spaniard get the better of Dustin Brown on Centre Court this evening.
