Andy Murray has vowed to give it his all as he bids for a second Olympic gold in the final of the men's singles tournament on Sunday.

The world number two will come up against 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro on centre court at the Olympic Tennis Centre in Rio de Janeiro, having booked his spot in the final with a dominant victory over Kei Nishikori on Saturday.

The Scot has now won 17 matches in a row and will become the first male player in history to retain the Olympic singles title if he finds a way past Del Potro.

"The last four months has been the best period of my career," Murray told reporters after the match. "My job now is to keep that going. I've not played my best this week but I have found a way to win.

"The goal is to win a gold medal. I'm not really thinking about the stuff that goes with it. It's obviously a difficult thing to do hence why its not been done before. I will go out there tomorrow and give it everything, fight as hard as I can and see what happens.

"I'm expecting a tough match. I'm pleased having carried the flag out [at the opening ceremony] that I did not go out early and that I already have a medal."

The match is due to get underway at around 7.30pm UK time on Sunday night.
