British number two Johanna Konta has boosted her chances of reaching the season-ending WTA Finals after reaching the semi-finals of the China Open.

The 25-year-old came from 4-0 down to earn a 6-4 6-0 victory over Zhang Shuai in one hour and 14 minutes in Beijing.

Konta suffered a double break in the opening set, but she bounced back in powerful fashion by breaking Zhang three times in quick succession.

With a one-set lead, the Brit confidently ripped through the second set in 28 minutes, leaving her Chinese opponent without a single game on the board.
