Stanislas Wawrinka 'looking forward' to Andy Murray showdown

Stanislas Wawrinka is looking forward to facing Andy Murray in a must-win ATP World Tour Finals group clash having overcome a "difficult" test against David Ferrer.

Stanislas Wawrinka has said that he is 'looking forward' to facing Andy Murray in a must-win clash at the ATP World Tour Finals in London on Friday.

The number four seed kept his semi-final hopes alive with a straight-sets victory over David Ferrer at the O2 Arena this evening, putting him level with Murray in the Ilie Nastase group with one win and one defeat apiece.

Murray's defeat at the hands of Rafael Nadal earlier today, coupled with Wawrinka's win, means that the winner of their clash on Friday will progress to the last four in second place behind Nadal.

"It was a tough battle. It's always difficult to play David and I'm really happy. I didn't start well but I started to find my game," Wawrinka told Sky Sports News.

"Andy is an amazing player. He's number two this year, he's had an amazing year. He's always tough to play, especially at home. I'll look forward to that match."

Wawrinka faced a set point in the opener this evening, but rattled off seven consecutive games to take control of the match before eventually running out a 7-5 6-2 victor.
