Rafael Nadal "very happy" with win over Andy Murray in ATP World Tour Finals

Rafael Nadal says that he needed to be at his best in order to beat Andy Murray in straight sets to boost his semi-final hopes at the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Rafael Nadal has claimed that he needed to play "very well" in order to get past Andy Murray at the ATP World Tour Finals in London's O2 Arena.

The Spaniard will qualify for the semi-finals of the competition if Stanislas Wawrinka claims a set against David Ferrer in his group match this evening.

Nadal, who has had an inconsistent season, was a level above Murray this afternoon as he grabbed a 6-4 6-1 victory on the hard court.

"I think I played well in general," Nadal said after the match. "The tactic against Murray is to play very well. He has all the shots so the only way to try to damage him is to play with high intensity and be aggressive.

"I didn't think I made that many mistakes. I'm very happy. I'm working hard to play matches like this."

Murray can still reach the semis, but he will need to beat Wawrinka in his final group match.
