England winger Jonny May out for the rest of the season after knee surgery

England winger Jonny May is ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

England winger Jonny May has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

The news was confirmed by the 25-year-old's club Gloucester Rugby, who claimed that May went under the knife on Tuesday.

May limped off the field at Twickenham in the 42nd minute of Gloucester's match against Harlequins last Sunday after injuring himself while kicking the ball.

A tweet from Gloucester read: "Following an operation on his left knee on Tuesday, Jonny May will be ruled out of the remainder of the 2015/16 campaign."

May will miss the Six Nations campaign, which for England begins against Scotland on February 6.
