Israel Folau: 'Errors to blame for World Cup final defeat'

Australia full-back Israel Folau tells Sports Mole that his side made too many "simple errors" during the 34-17 defeat to New Zealand in the final of the Rugby World Cup.

Australia full-back Israel Folau has said that his side made too many "simple errors" during their Rugby World Cup final defeat to New Zealand this evening.

The Wallabies fell to a 34-17 loss at the hands of their Trans-Tasman rivals at Twickenham, with Dan Carter scoring 19 points for the All Blacks in a man-of-the-match display.

Folau was quick to give New Zealand credit for their victory, but believes that there were aspects of the game that his side could have done better.

"I think we let ourselves down with so many errors, simple errors," he told Sports Mole.

"Our decision-making tonight wasn't up to scratch, but that doesn't take away anything from what the All Blacks did."

Australia have now lost their last two World Cup finals, most recently lifting the trophy in 1999.
