Wigan Warriors re-sign 21-year-old winger Joe Burgess on a three-year deal which will begin on December 1, 2016.

Wigan Warriors have re-signed 21-year-old winger Joe Burgess on a three-year deal which will begin on December 1, 2016.

Burgess failed to make an impact over in Australia, only making four appearances and scoring just two tries.

However, before returning to the Warriors the youngster will join South Sydney until the end of this season under former Wigan coach Michael Maguire.

Head coach Shaun Wane told reporters: "Mage needed a winger, he phoned us and asked me my opinion on Joe and he needed some game time so it's win win for us, I know he'll be looked after by Mage in a good system."

The England winger scored 51 tries in 57 appearances for Wigan and was their top try scorer in his final season before moving to the NRL.
