Wigan Warriors stage late comeback to beat Huddersfield Giants

Two late tries help Wigan Warriors beat Huddersfield Giants 24-16 in the Super League.

Wigan Warriors staged a late comeback to beat Huddersfield Giants 24-16 in the Super League tonight.

The visitors took an early lead when Anthony Mullally scored a try after just seven minutes, but Wigan hit back quickly through Joel Tompkins.

John Bateman put Wigan ahead shortly after, but Jamie Ellis regained the lead for the Giants just two minutes later, before Aaron Murphy latched on to a grubber kick to score Huddersfield's third try shortly before half time.

However, Wigan rallied in the second half, and Tompkins scored his second try in the 51st minute to get the gap down to just two points.

Huddersfield failed to hold on to their slender lead as Michael McIlorum put Wigan ahead in the 69th minute, and the tie was finished by 19-year-old Ryan Sutton four minutes later.
