Ian Lenagan: 'Wigan Warriors to play in London again'

Wigan Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan believes that his side will play in London again following Saturday's match with Catalans Dragons at The Den, where 8,101 fans attended.

Wigan Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan has suggested that his side plan to play more fixtures in London after their 42-16 victory over Catalans Dragons on Saturday, which was contested at Millwall's stadium The Den.

A crowd of 8,101 watched Saturday's match in South-East London - a figure representing the biggest attendance for a rugby league game in the capital for nine years - and Lenagan was encouraged by the response from supporters.

"We'd like 10,000, we'd like 12,500 and we'd like 15,000, and in year two and year three and year four I'm sure that will happen because it's our intention to continue after today's success with the experiment of London," Lenagan told BBC Sport.

"Millwall has worked extremely well. It's a lovely stadium, the atmosphere is superb. The way it's been branded has worked extremely well and they've loved having us here.

"We've got to discuss it with our fans, look at the financial returns of the investment we've put in and discuss it with the RFL. I suspect that what we will do is play a game next year in the regular season rather than in the Super 8s."

Wigan will take on Hull FC at the DW Stadium on Friday.
