West Ham United 'to ban 200 fans following violent scenes against Chelsea'

West Ham 'to ban 200 supporters'

West Ham United are reportedly planning to ban 200 supporters following the violent scenes that marred Wednesday night's EFL Cup fourth-round clash against Chelsea at the London Stadium.

The London rivals clashed off the pitch, with some fans throwing coins and seats towards the closing stages of the match, which ended 2-1 to the Hammers.

According to The Independent, in order to stress that there is a zero-tolerance policy to violent behaviour, West Ham are planning to issue lifetime bans to around 200 supporters if they are found guilty of throwing missiles in the direction of the away section, where the Chelsea fans were situated.

Since the game ended, West Ham officials have reportedly been scouring through CCTV footage to identify each individual fan involved in the skirmishes.

In addition, it is believed that the club intend to request that the guilty fans also receive banning orders, which will keep them out of all football matches.

Those spotted on CCTV footage making aggressive gestures towards Chelsea supporters will reportedly be hit with one-year bans.

Twenty-three people have already been banned for bad behaviour at the London Stadium this season.
