Former Rangers midfielder Arnold Peralta dies, aged 26

Honduras and former Rangers midfielder Arnold Peralta is found dead at the age of 26 in a car park in his hometown of La Ceiba.

Former Rangers midfielder Arnold Peralta, 26, has been killed in his hometown of La Ceiba in Honduras.

A statement from the country's Ministry of Security said that the Honduran international had been found dead in the car park of a shopping centre.

"We regret the violent death of the outstanding sportsman Arnold Peralta, a young player of the national team of Honduras," read the statement on La Prensa's website.

"The unfortunate incident occurred in the city of La Ceiba, in the parking lot of a shopping centre which has its own private security."

Peralta had won 24 caps for his country and played at both the 2014 World Cup and the 2012 London Olympics.

He left Rangers earlier this year after 18 months with the club to return to his homeland and play for Olimpia.
