Ched Evans appeal against rape conviction to be delivered in April

A decision regarding Ched Evans's appeal against his rape conviction will be delivered in April following a two-day hearing.

A decision regarding Ched Evans's appeal against his rape conviction will be delivered by the Court of Appeal in April.

The former Sheffield United striker, who spent two-and-a-half years in prison, began his appeal hearing on Tuesday.

Evans was sentenced to five years behind bars in 2012 after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman at a hotel near Rhyl.

The 27-year-old has maintained his innocence and announced his intention to appeal shortly after being released from prison in 2014.

A three-person panel of judges, headed by Lady Justice Heather Hallett, told the court on Wednesday that a judgement has been reserved and will be handed down in April.

The Wales international, who has been capped 13 times, has not signed for a new football club since leaving prison.
