Head of security firm takes "full responsibility" for Old Trafford 'bomb' blunder

The head of security the firm that accidentally left a fake bomb at Old Trafford takes "full responsibility" for the incident.

The managing director of the security firm that accidentally left a fake bomb at Old Trafford has taken "full responsibility" for the fiasco.

Manchester United were forced to abandon their final Premier League match of the season against Bournemouth on Sunday after a suspicious device was found in the men's toilets in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.

After the bomb squad performed a controlled explosion, police confirmed that the fake bomb was accidentally left behind by a security firm, now identified as Security Search Management & Solutions, following a training exercise for dog handlers.

The club announced that the dummy bomb was noted down by the firm as collected for, along with 13 other devices, and now managing director Chris Reid has admitted that he left a number of items around the stadium.

Mr Reid told reporters that he was "absolutely devastated" by what occurred and that the "mistake is entirely mine, I have to take full responsibility".

The match has been rescheduled for Tuesday evening.
