Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho removed from 'FIFA 16' after failed drugs test

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho appears to have been removed from FIFA 16 after the revelation earlier this week that he failed a drugs test.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has seemingly been removed from FIFA 16 following a failed drugs test.

The Frenchman is currently serving a provisional 30-game ban passed down by UEFA for his doping violation, which is thought to surround the use of a fat burner in an attempt to lose weight.

Sakho is likely to miss this summer's Euro 2016 tournament on home soil as a result, but he has now been dealt a cruel blow of another sort after being taken off the popular EA Sports video game.

Eagle-eyed FIFA users spotted that Sakho was nowhere to be seen in the Liverpool starting lineup, or indeed the squad altogether, which is likely to remain the case while UEFA deliberate over his punishment.

Sakho tested positive for use of a banned substance following the Reds' 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the second leg of their Europa League showdown last month.
